The Yale Center for Business and the Environment is inviting paper submissions for the Yale Initiative on Sustainable Finance 2019 Symposium on the “The State of Play in ESG Investing” (link). The Symposium will take place on November 8th at the Yale School of Management.
Please find the Call for Papers below.
Background
Environmental, social and governance (ESG) investing, or “sustainable investing” is a rapidly growing and evolving field. From fixed income to private equity and from impact-investing to green alpha, the types of investing, financial vehicles, applications, data, metrics, standards and regulations are all changing rapidly around the world. In an effort to better understand the current status and movement of this dynamic field, the Yale Initiative on Sustainable Finance (YISF) will host a Symposium on the topic of: State of Play in ESG Investing. YISF is issuing this call for contributions from scholars and practitioners.
Contributions will generally take the form of an empirical research paper, literature review or position paper. Authors of accepted contributions will be invited to present their findings at the annual YISF Symposium to be held November 8th at the Yale School of Management. We seek contributions that speak to the existing state of play as well as needs and future directions in one of several areas of interest:
A) Environmental and Social Impact Metrics
B) Portfolio-Level ESG Assessment and Metrics
C) ESG in Financial Disclosures
D) Future Reporting Frameworks for ESG information
E) Private Equity and ESG
F) Social- and Green-Impact Bonds
Submitted abstracts will be considered through an editorial review process for inclusion and authors of accepted contributions will be invited to present at the 2019 YISF Symposium. Some contributions will also be selected for inclusion as chapters in an edited book to be published in 2020.
Please submit abstracts of no more that 250 words to jamerlyn.brown@yale.edu. Abstracts should provide a clear picture of the proposed contribution’s thesis and argument and should be submitted by May 17, 2019.
