Our Member Universities

The Board of GRASFI will receive applications (please send to info@sustainablefinancealliance.org) from Prospective Member Universities. Applications will be considered at the next available Board meeting and new members will only be accepted when there is unanimity from the Board.

1. Membership is open to world class research universities with a demonstrable research interest and record in sustainable finance and investment.

2. Each application should contain:

• details of the institution,
• the CVs of two proposed representatives,
• the institution’s area(s) of expertise in sustainable finance and investment,
• a statement setting out how the prospective Member University would contribute to and benefit from the Alliance.

3. The board will pay particular attention to whether Prospective Member Universities:

• add new jurisdictions to the Alliance,
• have demonstrable support for Alliance membership from multiple departments, schools, or faculties across the university, and
• are likely to be active members over the long term.

4. Prospective Member Universities should have approval to join the Alliance from their Vice Chancellor, Governing Body, or equivalent, or an appropriate delegated authority.

5. Prospective Member Universities commit to paying an annual membership fee (membership year runs from 1st July to 30th June) of GBP5,000 and a once off joining fee of GBP 5,000. The board will, on a case-by-case basis, exempt Member Universities from all or part of any membership fee due if the university in question is based in a developing country and/or makes substantive in-kind contributions to GRASFI. If the prospective member university wishes to apply for such an exemption, this should be included in the application.

6. Member Universities must agree to send (and by implication fund attendance for) at least four delegates, including at least one member of faculty and one PhD student, to each annual GRASFI conference. Member Universities are entitled to two free registrations at each annual conference.

7. Member Universities must be willing to contribute to the governance of GRASFI by providing representatives to participate at member meetings and to be willing to serve on the GRASFI board or its sub-committees. Member Universities should be willing to host the annual GRASFI conference by rotation.
